Reconnected with an old flame. I had an inching for a reading and was pleasantly surprised with the spread.

Deck is Illuminated Playing Cards by Caitlyn Keegan

For context, I met this man in university. We were both overseas students and were pleasantly surprised to discover we were from the same country. We bonded almost immediately and had a deep friendship. We had periods of separation when he went to another university (still in the area) and still managed to maintain ties even if we didn't communicate. He returned home, I stayed to pursue more studies and will be returning home soon. He says he looks forward to reunion.

No specific spread was used. I asked for three cards to give me any insights.

4 of Cups in reverse: Many times before, I've always told myself he wouldn't be attracted to me. When we were friends I found out he was very romantic, moreso than I am even, but was a little old fashioned. For that reason, I never took any of his hints and flirtations seriously. I feel like this card shows I've overcome that.

The World in reverse: I'm not 100% on this, but I suppose it has to do with feelings of the lack of closure and emptiness from being physically apart for so long. We last met last year in October.

7 of Wands in reverse: Giving up control. I have always viewed relationships and specifically marriage as traps. But since meeting him, I've found myself considering it may not be entirely as bad as I thought it might be.

I then asked what our relationship will be like and what type of partner he will be. 2 cards jumped out.

6 of Pentacles: Generous, giving. I definitely see the both of us characterised by this.

King of Cups: I was genuinely shocked to see this card. A few months ago, I did a reading of what my future partner will be like. This was one of the cards. I've found interpretations saying this symbolised a calm, rational man who is mature. That definitely embodies him.

Clarifier cards. I wanted to know if my interpretations were correct and I asked for one card, but 3 jumped out almost immediately.

King of Swords: A disciplined man who places head over heart. This is definitely my guy.

3 of Cups: A celebration. I'm absolutely tickled how it appeared between the King and Queen. I do hope this means a long, enduring future for us with much to be thankful for.

Queen of Swords: Again, a wonderful surprise. I've always associated myself with this card as Joan of Arc was someone I idolised when I was younger. To see the King and Queen together from the same suite surely means good things?
