Reconvening

Daveth was not granted the permission to attend the third day of the council after his burst of insults in day two. At first they had all been too shocked to think about getting him off the table, and it took another long moment to catch him and drag him off, still naming this lord honorless and that lord craven. It was finally Lyn who had grabbed him. Daveth was grateful for it afterwards. Had it been anyone else, he might have tried something stupid. But seeing Lyn in his White Cloak somehow soothed him.

Lyn wasn't guarding him away of the council today, because the King had arrived. Baelor, the true King of the Seven Kingdoms. But Lyn had been guarding him after taking him out.

"I must say you surprise me father" he had said. "After all you endured, and still here you are, miles away from home, hopping on a Great Council's table and dragging yourself around, shouting names at everyone. The years haven't made you much wiser, but they haven't made you any less bold either."

"I could say the same about you're white cloak. Is that how you speak to the man who raised you?"

A short silence was Lyn first answer, followed by a common laughter.

"Ah father, I've missed you. The people here are such flattering pussies. Only you aren't shy of telling people the truth to there faces."

"This shouldn't be your place. You should have been born first, and rule after me in Heart's Home. You aren't doing your job anyways, only a few years of service and both the Queen and the King are dead!"

"What am I, a maester? Grandmaester Lyn, how ugly does it sound. And I wasn't close to the King either, what could I have done, even if I had been the one on duty. Though maybe with a better sword I'd be more able to defend the next King, whoever he might be."

"The next King will be Baelor, or the Corbray name will die trying to make him so. I've raised you well, you know he is the rightful King. As for the Lady, nobody's getting her before I lay cold in my grave. And your brother is older, by tradition he should get her, though I agree you might make better use of it."

Lyn didn't answer to that. After a few moments of silence, he said:

"The council must be over now. I'll let you go back to your chambers. Stay safe, father."
