Red Candle Games' update on Devotion incident

Except for the photos of Xi, the dev staff also intentionally hided many elements to imply the condemnations towards RPC and mainlander Chinese. If you could understand the Chinese, datamined text and images from the game implies that cult in the game is 陆心会(Mainland heart association) which means the association of people are in favor of PRC. Cult leader name is 陆恭铭/陆公民, which means "PRC citizens" in Chinese. The Cult Festival in the game is October 1st to October 7th, which is the National Festival of PRC. Also, 49 candles means 1949, the year PRC was founded.

Some games get banned because political themes are part of the plot, which the devs take as a risk. Then there's Red Candle, who nuke their own non-political game because the lead dev had to include easter eggs mocking their target audience

For anyone wondering, the lead dev of Devotion has a louder mouth than Randy Pitchford, combined with the political tact of Marcus Pearson.
