That’s exactly right. If they are poor maybe it’s a semi-voluntary poor based on career decisions and maybe even heroic in a way. it shouldn’t romanticized nor equivated to the permanent poor but I don’t think they actually do this.

But their still broke and even if it’s because they can’t bear to move cities or give up their dreams...it still sucks and certainly gives an insight into the permanent poor that others may not have.

Like my god I can only imagine how much it would just suck psychically if your passion happens to be for a subject for which half your seemingly horrible miserable peers are quiet multimillionaire trust fundies and half are abjectly voluntarily poor because they can’t imagine (right or wrong) taking a e.g. coding boot camp. That’s like a recipe for learned helplessness, no wonder all the coke!!!!
