A red sun sets at Rialto Beach, WA (OC)[1335x2000] @rosssvhphoto

A red sun sets...blood has...wait, that's a sunrise. A red sun sets...nothing happens. "A red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night." The red sun is a sign of PAST events, not a foretelling of things to come, so maybe a red sunset means blood was spilled during the day?

Anyways, This shot was from a excursion over into La Push back in April. We had decided to risk sticking around for Sunday's sunset even though it would mean we wouldn't get back home until around 1-2am. When we arrived I was exploring and looking for some good spots to shoot and realized the sun should be setting right between these two stacks! I was really excited and at the time it was an almost completely clear day and was envisioning getting a sweet sunstar between the stacks. As the sunset grew near, it started getting dark...fast. Massive stormy clouds were rolling in from the coast and almost filled the completely blue sky in less than an hour. I was fully expecting to get skunked and was enjoying my time sitting on a driftwood playing portable Sorry with my girlfriend. It was about 30 minutes before official sunset and there was still a small gap on the horizon, giving me a reason to throw on my waders and get ready to see what happened. Well...this happened! Pictures can't come even close to portraying what this scene looked like. A huge red ball of light shooting between two massive seastacks as the waves crashed on the shore. Needless to say, I was pretty excited and quickly fired off as many wave patterns as I could for the 60 seconds the sun remained popping through the clouds.

As always, thanks for viewing! If you would like to see more of my photos please feel free to follow me on Instagram or check out my website www.rosssvhphoto.com
