Reddit do you have any story's from health institutions/ asylums?

I had the fortune to spend three days in a mental health unit about ten years ago. As pissed as I was to have been placed in there (couldn't leave for at least three days) with a group of people who had SERIOUS mental health issues, it at least provided me with some good stories.

I don't know the diagnosis of any of the patients, I could only speculate. One morning the whole group (the majority of the group was there long-term and knew each other) was crowded around one lady in the common room who was telling them how one of the nurses had come in the night before and put a cigarette out in her ear. Everyone was freaking out about how they were not safe from this nurse, how can she get away with that, these people are dangerous to us...it was surreal to be sitting there with no way to explain to these people that that COMPLETELY DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Another chick caused another group uproar when she announced that she had been informed that Mohammed so and so was coming to blow up the hospital today. Again, the group was incensed that nothing was being done to protect them against Mohammed, given this indisputable evidence.

One of the long-term patients started being sexually suggestive toward one of the other patients who had just come in the day before and was only going to be there for a few days, like me. She consistently invited him back to her room to "look at her sand art" (against the rules, obviously), tried to touch him a lot, etc. One day at lunch that guy was sitting next to the one other girl who was there short-term (there were three of us, and when I say we were there short-term, what you need to take away is that we did not have the problems the other patients have - for lack of a better word, we were sane as opposed to the others). Sexually Suggestive Girl is pissed and mad dogging the other chick like it's her job. Out of nowhere, SSG stands up and throws her milk carton with all of her force directly in the other girl's face; it practically exploded. Then she jumped on top of her and started ripping at her hair, calling her a slut, accusing her of trying to steal him away, etc. It was bizarre - the only thing that was more bizarre was how long it took to get staff in there to (literally) restrain and drag SSG from the room.

I'm sure there were more bizarre experiences over those three days, but it was a long time ago and I can't recall now. In any case...entertainment value, 10/10...threat to life...possibly 8/10, would not recommend.
