Being an extremely new member, and having this be my first post, I'm extremely nervous while typing this. I'm not sure if that's from being a somewhat shy person or from reading the current top comments and seeing how they're all jokes, but I figured I'd give this a shot even if it's not recognized. (Liquid courage is awesome).

I'll try to keep this somewhat short, but I tend to ramble with alcohol in my system. I'm nobody right now. I come from a modest family who has their positives, and more than plenty of negatives. Growing up I've always wanted to do something with my life. I've wanted to make a difference. My personal goal, that no one is aware of, is one day becoming a politician. I understand many will balk at even the mention of politicians, but I truly believe my generation is full of future great leaders, and I hope to one day influence the changes I read and hear about from everyday people like myself. While I may be young and naive, I believe it is of the utmost importance to use your brain and morals while making decisions that influence millions, not party platforms and guidelines. I do identify with a certain party, but I regularly find myself face palming at the idiotic ideas from potential candidates and current members of Congress. (Looking at you, Trump)

The one thing that has kept me from further pursuing my dream of helping others is the fact that today, to run an even remotely successful campaign for any position, you need financial backing. (I'm fully aware of Bernie Sanders and I think what he has accomplished is great. His donations are from everyday people, just like those of Reddit, which is why I believe this could be the place to help me begin my career of helping others.)

I'm still not entirely sure if this subreddit is meant to be a serious inquisition or a shot at fake internet points with money as the "prize" for winning. With that said, I'd like to sum up my request for your support.

I'm almost finished college, heading into the U.S. military once I graduate (hopefully), and a few years down the road, I want to make a positive difference in peoples' lives. I understand that the U.S. is facing countless issues today, but I believe growing up my generation has put me on the path to success. I've grown up with a very tolerant lifestyle. The many social issues that plague the U.S. today are beyond ridiculous in my eyes. Let the people be happy and marry who they want. If we're going to riot over one kid dying by an officer, let's not ignore when the same thing happens to a Caucasian boy. If I have to take a drug test for my part-time job, you should be required too as well when receiving money from taxpayers.

Fully aware of how long this is, but as it's my first post and I truly wish to make a change, deal with it. I also don't plan on winning, or receiving a large amount of money if I do, but any amount would greatly help in my future plans.

Tl;dr I'm a broke college kid with ambitions to be a politician that actually does something. And am drunk.
