Reddit is not a bastion of free speech, and is actually highly censored by the wrong people.

Oh, my god, you hypocrite. You say you're all for allowing discussion, yet you inhibit it.You say nothing productive can come from a debate on racism, but, even if that were true, it isn't a good enough reason to censor a person's opinion. You moderate a subreddit whose sole purpose is to enable people to share their unpopular opinions, yet, the moment a person has an opinion you disagree with (racism), you censor them. Where's your neutrality? Where's your dignity? Have you any realization how utterly dogmatic and shortsighted you're being? I don't care if racism is an archaic and hateful idea. I don't care if you ban me out of petty spite, because I've called you out. This subreddit should allow all discussion, no matter the topic; no matter the taboo nature of it; no matter how much you disagree with it. You might as well step down as mod, because you're doing a terrible job of it.

Please, until you've learned to allow completely open discussion here, go way. We don't want you here. Your opinion that we shouldn't allow this content is perfectly fine with me, but your enforcing of it is not.

Check the US Bill of Rights if you need any inspiration on how you should handle users' speech rights:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
