Reddit Orders ‘SaveVideo’ Bot to Shut Down or Face Lawsuit

What an utterly useless article.

Not that any of the people in this thread actually read it.

The author is painting the video-saving bot as being some kind of Robin Hood, conveniently glossing over the fact that Reddit itself is facing legal action if they don't curtail it. The bot has been at the center of repeated content-theft, is actively going against the site's terms of service, and has been warned several times before to stop.

When someone posts content to Reddit, they (the poster) are responsible for it. Reddit can respond to DMCA takedowns by removing the content. The bot circumvents that, helping other users become thieves (whether they intend it that way or not).

It's like everyone in this thread is saying "We should be free to post whatever we want!" while also saying "We shouldn't have to take responsibility for what we post!" and getting upset when Reddit tries to maintain their freedom.

This isn't some hero making the site better and being punished for it.

This is a thief-enabler being told to quit going against the terms of service.
