Reddit, what are you struggling with?

Long story, but I have been giving almost free living quarters, willingly and by agreement to a elderly friend for 8 years. There has been no problems and it has been a mutually beneficial (I thought) arrangement, until 2 months ago. When he suddenly came out yelling at me and unable to be reasoned with. Suddenly I am the devil incarnate according to him and I need to leave my own home, it is his house (according to him..it is actually my house) and I don't belong here. I do not know how to handle this. I fear he was having a medical problem and called social services, but now they will not return my calls, he has weapons, no one can do anything, the family, of whom there are many in the local area but whom have never visited, want nothign to do with him. He won't talk to me , but seems to be going about his daily routine. I think that adult protective services are trying to do something and he probably is evading them, but why won't the adult protective services talk to me and at least let me know. I need to know if I need to move to plan B. Which would be to escalate my attempts to contact the family. I'm trying to lay low in case they are trying to do something because I don't want to interfere because I think it would be better for a neutral party. On the other hand he may just be being an asshole in which case I'm just letting myself be a doormat! I have lost 35 lbs in the past 2 months though so thats good I guess. My peaceful haven in the woods has turned into a war zone. I was baking him bread and cooking him meals and overnight he was yelling at me for no reason whatsoever. I don't have anyone else around to see these behaviors of his so I feel like they are going to think it is me that is nuts.
