Not me, but my brother had a roommate from hell a few years ago. Him and girlfriend had a VERY small 2 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. They lived there for 8 years, until she suddenly left him. He was a mess. He lost the love of his life and he also didn't have enough money to pay the rent by himself.
After a couple of months he went on Craigslist to find a roommate. He met with quite a few people to feel them out to see if they would be a good match. Out of the 30 people he met with, it came down to two. The 40 year old recently divorced guy or the 22 year old french foreign exchange student who spoke broken english. He ended up choosing Gabriella the student to live with him in his 600ft square apartment to help pay the $2000 a month rent. He said she was very quiet and told him she would pretty much be at school or studying in her room. He thought that was perfect. My brothers place was always immaculate.
He worked 80 hours a week, and would like to come home and just relax after work.
Here is a list of things Gabriella did in the 5 months she lived there:
Every. single. night. she made cabbage for dinner. My brother said that it was the worst smell ever. You could smell it 24/7
She never did the dishes, or cleaned anything. The bathroom was a disaster. And talking about the bathroom, she would go in the bathroom at 5AM and wouldn't come out until 8AM. She would not reason with my brother (he had to leave for work at 7) so he ended up showering at night and brushing his teeth in the kitchen every morning. She put the thermostat on 80. Every day. My brother told her that was unacceptable, but again, she didn't listen.
Last but certainly not least, one day during the week after a long day at work my brother walked in the door and not just did he have to smell the cabbage, there was about 50 college kids packed liked sardines in this tiny apartment. There was a couple on his bed having sex. It took about 5 minutes to kick everyone out, but they trashed the place even more than it was and they stole all of his liquor. Gabriella did not understand why my brother was furious. She thought she was allowed to have company over?
