Reddit, what song isn't about what I think it's about?

No Handlebars - Flowbots

Well lets start off with the two characters. The two best friends. One lives a normal life and thinks of all the things he CAN do, but doesn't. And the other. The sociopathic friend who become powerful; still only listing the things he can do.

In the beginning it is about the two friends trying to outdue each other. Moving from leading the nation with a microphone to splitting atoms. The sociopath friend states talking about how great his power is. How he can cure disease, how he can end the planet in a halocaust, how his power is secure. In the song, the music starts to get louder and build more depth. This is showing that tension is building and he is going mad. After his tangent about his power, the first, normal friend one back in and says "I can ride my bike with no handle bars". So innocent, but still risky. He's portraying that he and his friend would ride their bikes and have great memories. But the fact that these bots are thinking this way is mental. It is beyond my reasoning to think that this is normal thinking in a kids head. Or is it? See, the normal boy talks about doing normal things. Taking apart the remote control, opening up a thrift store, making a living off a magiz., designing an engine. Them it gets more extreme. I can make new antibiotics, I can make computers survive aquatic conditions, I know how to run a business and I can make you wanna buy a product. "Me and my friends see the strings that control the system, I can do anything with no assistance because I can lead a nation with a microphone."...the normal friend is telling the sociopath that he doesn't need him anymore. He's saying that he can see how corrupt he is. Last but not least, he is telling about how he can lead a nation to revolt against his one best friend, only using a microphone.

But why?

Well, the motivation behind the song was to stir a feeling of self worth and a aspiring tone of revolution. The two boys are not meant to be enemies they were close. The entire song is about the rise and fall of a friendship and it was meant to explain that not all was okay between them. He is exemplifying that he was normal and the friend was not. The song, as I said before, was about them out doing each other. The tangenting friend forgets that this is all just a fantasy and he is brought back to realization that, all he can do, is ride a bike, with no handlebars.
