Reddit, what's your family's dark secret? [NSFW]

One, not super dark secret, but I was told my big brother was my cousin until I was about eleven or twelve. He lived with my Aunt, who I didn’t know until later had adopted him from my mother because she had him when she was fifteen. I slept over at my Aunt’s every other weekend to hang out with him, we were best friends. It was definitely shocking to find out the truth, but we are still close and he’s the best big brother a sister could ask for. :)

On the somewhat darker side, I recently found out that my mom (a compulsive liar), met my stepdad in an online chat room, and told him she was Latina and had three children with “her black boyfriend who abused her”. Well, he flew from Texas to Canada to meet her after she claimed she was “separated from her boyfriend”, and quickly found out my sisters and I were very much white, and she was too. She’d been cat fishing him with fake pictures and lies the entire time, was actually unofficially separated from her (white but still abusive, though not to the extent she claimed) husband, and for some reason didn’t stop him from visiting her anyway. For some unknown other reason, my stepdad still married her and they had a child.

They didn’t last, after my mom abused him badly enough that my stepdad’s mother and sister flew out to bring him home. He was very very mentally ill and deathly thin then, but he’s extremely happy and healthy and working hard and has the child my mother and him had together. The two of them are incredibly happy and doing so good.
