Reddit, what's your high schools tragedy? [NSFW]

Two dirtbag guys got suspended from school and decided to run away. They broke into a deputy's house and stole handguns for "protection" then came to the school to "say goodbye" to some people at lunchtime. One of them were spotted and three assistant principals approached him. He pulled out the gun but one of the APs grabbed him and managed to get the gun away from him. But the other dirtbag came up while they were distracted. A student teacher grabbed him, but he shot him in the leg and got away. He then shot two of the assistant principals, one multiple times (survived) and one point-blank in the head (killing him). He ran out the front doors of the school and right into a pair of deputies that were coming into the school for an unrelated call. They managed to draw and shoot him in the shoulder and capture him. The first dirtbag escaped the school but eventually was captured.

This all happened in 1988, the year after I graduated. I found out about it when I happened to look over at the TV in my college's cafeteria and recognize my school building. Once I understood the story, I raced to my dorm and called my parents, but they didn't even believe it happened. It was hours before I knew who was injured or dead. I know dozens of students that saw the whole thing. My brother was shaken up for a long time by the incident. My daughter had a lockdown drill in her high school and her math teacher told the kids a story about why the drills were important - and that's the day I realized her math teacher went to high school with my brother.

So for shooting three people, killing one, dirtbag number one served twelve years in prison (of his seventeen year sentence). Dirtbag number two served less than two years in prison (of his six year sentence).
