Reddit, what's your high schools tragedy? [NSFW]

Close knit high school right outside of Houston with NO violence, no fights in the halls, food fights, or anything of that matter. Filled with about 70% white people, the rest asian/indian. Maybe 5% black people(I just had to point this out because I moved from a school that was about 60% black 30% hispanic).

Anyways, there was a girl in my grade named Ashton Glover. Everyone knew her. She worked with the football team, and was overall just a really nice girl that was friendly around everyone.

The summer before senior year, her and 2 friends, both male, that she had known since she was 5, decided to go off-roading in their truck one night. One of the guys, Matt, was in ROTC, kind of looked like a member of the Aryan brotherhood -- but I had a bunch of classes with him in the past, overall he seemed like a pretty good dude. The other one, Sean, I always found weird. He'd come to school early and always sit in the cafeteria wearing a trench coat. I never really talked to him so I can't speak on his behalf.

Anyways, while they're off-roading, Ashton gets out of the car, and Matt shoots her point blank in the face with a pistol, killing her. They casually half ass buried her and then went to iHop for breakfast as if nothing happened.

This SHOCKED our community, nothing like it had ever happened. Most people knew all 3 of the people involved -- and get this, instead of driving to Mexico, which is about a 6 hour drive from where I live in Texas, they decide to drive to Canada to flee. By the time they got to Canada, they were suspects(it's a long fucking drive, the police dug into this case quickly). When they approached Canada's border, they couldn't tell the border patrol why they wanted to come to Canada, which raised some red flags. Canadian border patrol went on to run their names and arrest them.

When they asked Matt why he did it, all he said was "morbid curiosity".

tldr; Close knit community, girl everyone knew at the time went off-roading with 2 guys that went to my school as well, they ended up killing her due to "morbid curiosity".
