All the kids in our town went to the same public high school with a couple hundred going to the private catholic school, so we had several of those kids.
• The bathroom masturbator. Apparently he masturbated in the bathrooms often and never locked the door.
• The perpetually weird one. There wasn't just one thing that made him "that" kid. He had glasses that were tinted orange. He would suck in his spit while he talked. He always walked around a bit hunched back and had a shuffle, stalking walk, because he thought it was cool. Super into pokemon, anime, ect. Would carry around the "How to Make Friends" book. He also never showered and smelled awful. Basically even in high school, he was a middle schooler.
• One of the popular girls also had several abortions before graduating and was very proud of the fact.
• A girl used to strip in the doorway of the girls' locker room so almost anyone could see her change.
Skipped seventh grade because she had a kid. Came back eighth after losing custody. Pregnant by a much older guy (25-ish) in ninth grade, who wasn't her also much older boyfriend. She shared boyfriends with her mother, who also had lost custody to several children.
Her sluttiness was a point of pride for her. Rumors say she would fuck in the bathroom if you asked.
She was suspended for fighting, and also lost her children again because of it. Her last name was altered to "Whore-nandez."
• Me. I was supposed to graduate early because I had completed all the requirements. But they fucked up and forgot that you can't take German 2 in the fall. So they struck a deal. First half of the year was 8-3 like normal. The last half of the year I only had to go to two classes: orchestra (I had played for 8 year) and German. So after 11:15 a.m., I was free to leave. No one else had this. Normally you could only have one "free" period per semester.
I had never attracted any rumors before this. Except for my excellent grades (13th out of 350), I was middle pack. Not social outcast, not popular. Until the last half of senior year. Suddenly, not having afternoon classes meant I was weird. The rumors flew. I was into drugs. I was prego. I had cancer. I was a stripper. I had committed a felony and was only allowed half days at school. Basically anything. Then I was weird for not wanting to be in school. That one was baffling.
I had moved out and was on my own since the beginning of senior year. I had a full time job. Most of my friends had graduated and I now hung out with college kids.
I didn't find out about any of the rumors until graduation day. I will never forget. Jenny walked up and basically said, "Oh. I thought you had cancer, or were into drugs. I didn't know you were graduating with us."
