Redditers who changed thier destructive habits (over eating, drinking, etc.) and became active and healthy, what made you decide to change and how did you start?

Combination of feeling fat for almost a decade and my favorite NBA basketball team. My favorite team (76ers) adopted this strategy of basically bottoming out. Blow it up, start from scratch. How the team was set up wasn't going to win a title, so they might as well start over, in the most extreme way. Trade everyone, bring in young players, see what they got, and get top picks in the draft. I loved the strategy. Deal with some (a lot) of suffering and blowout losses, with the idea of it all being worth it down the road. 3-4 years of an awful team, with the chance to be a perennial championship contender for many years. I thought, why not me too? what's a couple years of my life in the grand sceme of things? I'm fat, never had a girlfriend, porn addicted. If I fix my life now, it will all be worth it down the road. Fuck it, let's do it. Gym everyday, healthy eating, no alcohol. Almost 2 years have gone by I went from 335 to around 240 and I'm not stopping. 4 people from high school so far didn't immediately recognize me when they saw me (currently in college). I've never felt better in my life. It was all worth it. Trust The Process.
