Redditor explains how California Gun Control limit the casualties in Youtube Shooting

So much wrong information in that post.

There are 2 different options to make an AR-15 California legal.

Option 1 is a featureless AR-15. All that does is make it look goofy and be a little awkward to hold but it works just like every AR-15 out there, you fire ten rounds and press the mag release to release the empty mag, insert a fresh one then release the bolt and you're good to go.

Option 2 is a mag locked rifle. You can not release the magazine with the mag release when the receivers are joined with a mag locked rifle. To reload a mag locked rifle you release the bolt then pull the rear take down pin which let's you separate the receivers. When the receivers are separated you change magazines like normal, then you close the receiver push the pin back in and chamber a round and you're good to go. This is a very slow way to reload but OP's 2 minute time frame is a HUGE over estimate of the time it takes, a mag locked AR only takes about 5-20 seconds depending on the brand of mag lock and the skill of the shooter.

At the end of the day it sounds like this woman used a hand gun and it was a targeted murder suicide attempt rather than an indiscriminate mass shooting so the fact that this is getting swept up into the whole mass shooting "assault weapon" debate is pretty ridiculous.
