Redditor gives eye witness account of doctor being violently removed from United plane

So, yes it sucks that they revoked a seat after boarding.

However, if you are asked to get off a plane, you have no rights to stay. If you refuse to come on your own, you'll be removed by force. If you push back against force, you will get more force.

Think about it from a different perspective. Let's say you invite people into your home for a party. Too many show up, so you have to tell Fred that he's got to go outside. We drew straws.

Fred says no. At this point, he is no longer a guest. He is a tresspasser. You call the cops to escort him out. He puts up his hands and pushes against the cops. "NOOOO! I need to be in this party!" He'a goung to get grapples and dragged out.

Except, on a plane, if you refuse to leave, you are a security risk, and could be considered a hijacker.

If he had peacefully exited like the three others ejected, he would have gotten compensation.

Instead, he gets a criminal record and a ban from UA.

Again, you, the passenger, have no guaranteed right to a seat. Once the doors are closed, they are responsible for your safety, but you can always be kicked off when the doors are open on the ground. The captain, and by proxy, the flight crew have ultimate authority.

So, be pissed that they revoked his seat, because that sucks.

But also be pissed he threw a hissy fit and violated federal regulations because he felt entitled.
