Redditor realizes just how bad a Nice Guy he was, gets therapy, and turns it all around

I think the people below hit it better. It's 2017 and there is a lot of stress in our world mostly due to social media and constant connection to it via phones. We get stressed all day everyday at stuff we read. Plus all the actual real life things going on in our work and personal lives. It's not the fear or stigmatism of seeing a therapist, it's the cost associated and also it could affect your job depending on what you do or plan to do in the future. We need that to not be a thing, and for it to be cheaper to access. Now it's probably never NOT going to be a thing for employers to look differently at people with mental health issues and that does make sense in many lines of work. I don't need my airline pilot going through major mental health issues or many other lines of work that require rock solid mental focus. But for other things the stigma of having mental issues shouldn't mean you couldn't be fine at a job. I personally think the best therapy is quitting reading every fucking news story, every sad Facebook post, every horrible story on the net. People at this moment in time, are addicted to reading about bad things happening and wanting to help fix them or getting outraged etc. I predict an absolute HUGE increase in mental health issues in the years to come and I know that is an obvious observation. Social media is the main reason and you can deny it all you want but it is true. And I should say the media whether news or social. We are too into what everyone else is going through and not focusing on our own lives. I imagine a good portion of a normal persons day is reading shit about other people. Your life is going by at a race car pace now and in a blink of an eye you will be older and will have wasted so much time doing that instead of having fun and creating a great life for yourself and your family. Just my opinion but I am not wrong. Sure people use social media to live great lives but they are NOT the norm.
