Redditor shares a passage showing a parallel between the transformation of Nazi Germany and the signs of it in the US today

I'm going to preface this by saying i'm not a Nazi, a nationalist, or anything close because there are so many on the internet today anything resembling a defence will be seen as me batting for that team. I just want to say that equating the majority of neo-nazis and white ethnostatists (again, still deplorable, completely irrational and regressive views) with the Nazi party of Germany is intellectually dishonest. Unless these people actually approve of the actions done by the Nazi party (which some do I imagine, but a lot don't), then I think it's quite unreasonable to equate them just because they share the same label. It's not like the alt-right is a foreign country invading a bunch of it's neighbours and breaking treaties, or that white ethnonationalists want to purge the "subhumans" (though again, I'm sure some of them do). I know defending Nazis and the alt-right isn't exactly popular, and I completely understand why. But treating all of these people as if they are as evil as the worst of them is part of what radicalises them in the first place, plus it's just not true.

(btw I'm kind of replying to this whole thread here, not just you)
