I think you're generalizing a little too much with my argument. I clearly stated this "progress" was in the context of the Obama administration. Not Communist progress. Not Nazi progress. I felt, and still do, that the Obama administration was an example of positive progress for our nation.

I get it, I am just saying that it is a generic argument used by every ideology to make it seem inevitable. That's why it's effective, but also pure bullshit.

That being said, I do believe in the general arc of human progress as well. Not just tech and medicine, I do believe that society as a whole is inevitably heading in a positive direction. Relapses are exceptions, not the general trend. We are treating each other better as the years progress.

Again, positive for you. It seems negative for someone else. The relapses could be seen as the actual progress, and they aren't really less common than progress (by your definition).

I don't believe in Utopia, we won't ever get it all right. I do believe this is an eternal struggle. Tiny baby steps towards something better as our species lives on.
