Redditors, what did you fear that ended up actually happening to you?

I was always fearful of a spider, cockroach, some type of bug in my shoes when I go to put them on. I would always squeeze the tip of my shoes just in case there was something I would crush it. Eventually I stopped doing this, because I grew up and labeled it as an irrational fear and that something like that would be really rare to occur. Until one day...

One day I went to put on my shoes, early slow-starting morning. I was tired and ready to take my dog out for a walk. I grab the shoe for my right foot and lift it up about ready to put it on my foot. I begin to slip my foot in... When a thin spider the size of my palm became startled that I woke him up in his spidey-hidey-hole and crawled up my right foot and leg!! Instinctively my dials get set to 11 immediately and I just smack it off my leg and it lands on the floor, still alive trying to get away. I then, to make this story shorter, used his would-be spider den against him and he was no more.

And now, I always check my shoes before putting them on or getting near them lol
