Redditors, what is your dream city to live in? Other redditors, why is that city awesome/awful?

Scrolled down until I found this. Boise is great. It's a big enough city that you can find everything you need, but not large in an overwhelming, major city sort of way.

Summers are perfect - absolutely gorgeous. So many great things to do outdoors. Floating the river, mountain biking, anything else you can imagine. From downtown, you can be in the foothills in five minutes. Winters are bland, but it's only a half hour drive up the mountain for skiing and boarding in the winter.

Downtown is great, very comfortable and inviting. If you're new in town it's pretty easy to find friendly people to start up a conversation with.

Compared to almost everywhere else in the US, it's incredibly safe. Only place I've ever lived where I can be in any part of the city at any time of day or night and not have the slightest concern for my personal safety. Obviously you need to be careful anywhere you go, and it's probably smarter if you don't walk on the Greenbelt alone in the middle of the night, but it's a very peaceful city.

Speaking of the Greenbelt, excellent way to get across the city either by bicycle or on foot and enjoy the river.

Very low cost of living. $725 a month got me a two bedroom house with a garage in one of the best neighborhoods in town, and only a 15 minute walk from downtown.

It's been described as the most geographically isolated city in the lower 48, but the upside is that it's only a decent day's drive to pretty much anywhere in the west you could want to go. 5 hours to Salt Lake, 7 to PDX, 8 to Seattle, 10 to Vegas, 11 to San Fran, 13 to Denver. Sun Valley is a lovely place for a day trip or a weekend getaway, and it's only a 2 and a half hour drive. Jackson Hole is even better and only another 3 hours.
