Redditors who didn't really try in high school and just floated by... what are you doing now?

I'm late but I want to put this here anyway.. I floated through high school I barely remember any of it (I wasn't on drugs or anything), I had trouble keeping awake most of the day and I stayed up late playing video games. I did just enough of my work so that I wouldn't get in trouble and I never had to repeat anything. Left high school and went to community college, still without any drive or motivation to learn and advance. I did it mostly because it was expected of me but also because I couldn't see myself not going at least. I did better in that environment but I could have applied myself much more.

After graduating from the community college I transferred to a state college and lived in a dorm for a year, I had fun but it was difficult to keep up. Ran into problems with a semester that was strictly unrelated gen-eds and hit a low GPA that if I didn't turn around I could be in trouble.

I moved out of the dorm into an apartment and worked hard in classes in my major and I was actually proud of myself I was doing so well. My path through college has been so convoluted, though, and for a year then I was only doing my field classes and that brought my GPA up quite a bit.

I'm graduating state college in 4 days and I've been working for a couple months now in an amazing job that pays well. It's never too late to start applying yourself and find motivation to do better. A good friend of mine told me a quote " the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now". If you're floating by and having difficulty finding motivation, I feel for you. Just find something you really enjoy and work hard for it.
