Redditors who don't tip, why?

American here. It's because it's a ridiculously pathetic system that takes advantage of the customers. Read this sentence and see if it sounds messed up to you:

"It's the customer's responsibility to pay a server's rent every month, NOT the manager for the company you work for."

The fact that tipping is supposed to be as a standard rather than for performance shows why nobody gives a crap about their job anymore. Because we continue to reward mediocrity, even when the service is subpar.

Because they are basically doing their job. Congrats, you brought a plate of food and water to my table. That's your job. Why should I fork over extra money for a basic task?

Servers in many places only get paid a 2.13 hourly wage. And this is used as an excuse to shame customers who don't tip. For the record, the customers aren't stiffing you, your manager is. If you're going to be pissed at anyone, be mad at your manager for only paying you 2 bucks an hour because he relies on social norms so he can save money and not pay you jack shit.

The entitled ass servers I see whining about nontippers only justifies why they don't deserve anything extra. And any system designed to make the customers feel like assholes unless they comply is a messed up system.

The classic "If you can't tip, stay home and eat." No my friend, here's a better idea, quit your fucking job if you aren't happy, and find one where you have a manager who actually pays you a good living wage instead of leeching off customers.

It's nothing against servers for the most part, it's me giving the finger to an absolutely ridiculous system which inconveniences customers and encourages servers to be whiny brats when things don't go their way.
