"J'etais La" by Zazie

Honestly, it was one of those things where I was in my AP French class in high school, and we had heard a different song by Zazie in order to introduce us a bit to their musical culture (and because my teacher liked Zazie, I can only assume). Then, we had to do some research, find a song by a French musician/band, and write an essay analyzing the song and what it meant to us.

I continued to look up more Zazie and came across "J'etais La" (I'm aware accents are not correct on that; I don't currently have an easy way to type them in, but maybe I'll edit it later). It's all about witnessing certain large events but not doing anything about them and in a way indirectly blames us all for the terrible things that have happened in the world for not speaking up/acting on them. Because I was 16/17, I thought it was super deep and important.

Nowadays, I still think it's important, but I also just like the simplistic nature of the song's progression both in tone and...musicality? I don't know. I never studied music theory. I just think it's a beautiful song. =)
