Redditors who gave an unfaithful spouse a second chance, what's your story and how did that turn out?

I have a long-time-ago ex and a very cool friend whom I keep in touch with remotely. The ex used to roomie with my wife & I- she was in a truly shitty, dangerous place in life and pretty sure she'd be dead if we hadn't.

We had to move but keep in touch. Something that came up when we were together though, was that her & I drinking together was a bad idea- it started to feel weird. She gets really fucking silly & flirty when drunk, so we decided to knock that off in case something went wrong & my wife killed us both :)

Fast forward, she's been in a long-term, long-distance relationship with an amazingly cool frood, a paramedic training up to become a doctor. They holiday together a decent amount, his family is loaded like mega-money, his father has offered her a job in the field she's studying at college, and Mr Cool is paying for her living costs and food, furniture for our old apartment, a new car, everything- so she can concentrate on finishing her degree. Basically golden ticket land. Considering she started adult life having meth forced on her and raped by her uncle's pals repeatedly, bit of a switch up right?

Well this poor fucker Mr Cool told me the other day that when he last visited she was distant as all hell, they barely got jiggy at all (and she's a closet nympho) and that she was drinking again. Well turns out she accidentally a college-buddy she's glued to's dick. For two weeks pretty solid I hear. And she tried to justify it with "Human animals aren't meant to be monogamous, but I feel bad and I won't do it again, sorry."

Do you want to know why she's my ex? Take a wild guess, all the way down to the speech.

He's giving her a second chance. He even said he wouldn't have minded if she'd just asked (he's a kinky SOB, I accidentally walked in on him getting a bj once and he was like "yo" - "yo, oops, sorry man" - "no big) and he just wants to move past it.

To be honest, I told him our history and to leave her because jesus christ if there was ever a "Once a, always a~" story it's this one. I mean she gave him the exact speech I got nine years ago. Right now they're really ropey and it's been a little while, he isn't sure if he can trust her anymore. Between us two and him, we gave her everything to help her turn her life around, and she repays in kind by blowing his cash on concerts, getting shitfaced even knowing she's at risk and fucking someone else, a lot. Honestly it feels like I've been cheated on again. And talk about biting the hand that feeds!
