Redditors who grew up with overly permissive parents, what was the most absurd thing you were allowed to do?

My parents were absent to the point of neglect. Think The Glass Castle in terms of family dynamic. Once I took a greyhound bus 16 hours to visit a boyfriend at age 15. I also drove 900 miles to visit a boyfriend for a week (age 16). I went to raves but didn’t do drugs. I also crazily got a job behind their back because they didn’t feel like I should work in high school but I was bored. When I was younger I made a Tom Sawyer style raft for the pond we had. Honestly when you have zero safety net you’re a lot more responsible with yourself. I never did drugs harder than mushrooms and I’m a very type A person now. I love having structure in my life now, it feels a lot less stressful.
