Redditors who have had "neighbors from hell", what happened?

My neighbor has three annoying dogs. They bark continuously if anyone is in our small backyard. It's not just loud barking, they also hysterically jump and run until they can't breathe. No matter how many times they see us, they never recognize us as familiar. I've tried giving them treats but that didn't help.

The problem is that our neighbors make absolutely no attempt to calm the dogs or train them. They sit on the patio drinking iced tea like they don't even notice!

We are only in our backyard for about 1/2 hour a day to cut the lawn and tend to flowers because of this. I can't even relax when I'm taking care of my flowers because I feel awful about the ruckus.

We live in a suburb with close houses so the dogs immediately see us when we go outside. This has been going on for 10 years and has really ruined my summers (dogs are inside when it's cold). They are small house dogs yet always seem to be outside when I have something to do. I can't figure out why my neighbors act like they don't notice.

They are nice people so I don't say anything but it's hard to believe that they don't even attempt to stop the dogs or bring them inside until our yard work is finished. If I'm outside for 1/2 hour, the hysterical barking goes on the entire time. Really depressing that people could be so clueless.

So my Ask Reddit answer is that sometimes there isn't any resolution. To keep peace, I keep quiet but do wonder how people can be so rude. The funny thing is that a few years back, another neighbor had a barking dog that was similar to theirs but not nearly as bad. It was leashed and didn't always bark. Crazy dog neighbors were furious. They'd scream, "Shut up!" every time the dog barked. Eventually the other neighbor got rid of the dog because she didn't want to deal with them. Total hypocrisy.
