Neighbor was my wife (then girlfriend at the time)'s boss.

We live at least a 17 hour drive from where either of us are from. I had her family drive up to surprise her for Thanksgiving because she had not seen them in a year. I also proposed on that day. He would not give her a half day off to celebrate with us.

Then....As part of my job, I got two round trip flights, a hotel room, two VIP tickets, and two Super Bowl tickets. She asked for two days off since she had only asked for one day off during her year, which was not granted. She requested off 13 days from when she needed off. The guy rejected the request 10 minutes after she put in the request through the computer system (he must have been waiting for the request). Our flights were on Thursday before the Super Bowl and she only needed Friday and Monday off. He rejected it until she said she was going to ask the Union to help her get the Friday off. So, he then gives her Saturday off (which she already had off) put her on for Friday and Monday. She told him that my company was paying for the flights and it was around $2,000 or more to get the flights on our own, so she needs Friday and Monday off. He says no. She goes to the union and they have two day discussion. The neighbor basically throws my fiancée under the bus and makes her throw some of her co-workers under the bus. He says that she asks for a lot and that she has been disruptive for the past two weeks.

After the meeting, they say that there is no reason for her not to get the days off but it is back to our neighbor. But, they cannot help because it is kind of on him at this point because there are only three days before we are supposed to leave.
