Redditors who quit their jobs in a blaze of glory, what's your story?

Ugh, every single shift manager I had at Pizza Hut was like this and they would get a good portion of the shitty crew to be shitty employees like them.

Every single night shift I worked, for hours I would end up being the only person in store to take phones, work cash register, make the food, watch the ovens and fryers and make sure I had enough clean dishes for everything. It was an absolute nightmare. On top of that, I was the only one dealing with the rightfully angry customers who were pissed no one was answering their calls, their food was late or because I took to long to greet them up front when I had 10+ orders due in <15 minutes.

By the time I realized what a shit job it was, I had started school with overloaded schedules and an internship type deal, so I was too overwhelmed to look for a new job. I didn't quit, but I stopped giving a fuck. My GM wouldn't fire the awful employees, so I knew I could get away with anything.

Scheduled to come in at 8 am and unload inventory? Eh, management can deal with it. Everyone's outside smoking? Direct pissed off customer to side of building to deal with them. I stopped doing more than one job ever and refused to deal with the customers for the managers. This led to a lot of pissed of customers. If they let it get so bad it would inconvenience me, I would leave. For a long time the early shift manager wouldn't let me take breaks (on 12 hour days) so I stopped asking and started telling. I'd make sure to leave so I wouldn't have to deal with angry customers or an obnoxious boss. Eventually the higher ups noticed no breaks were being given and some of the managers were fired.

In the end it turned out being petty fun when I stopped giving a fuck; I was essentially my own boss and got a lot of free pizza for a couple of years.
