Definitely creepy, but mostly terrifying. I was on a hike a few years ago on a beautiful day. Was about 30 min in when i heard some yelling, over music, but thought it was probably a group being loud and drunk by the river. Then a group of people come past me walking fat wit their heads down. Again didn't raise a red flag. Then i saw the blood trail. Then more. Then a lot more. No dead animals around.. then it clicks. The yelling..the weird people almost jogging up the trail.. i stop and decide to turn around so i could find a signal and get the cops because someone is obviously dead and then I see that i was being stalked by one of the guys from the group. I pretended he wasn't there and continued up the trail quickening my pace. Then he pops out, interrogates me as to what I saw/heard if I knew any of his friends. I denied everything with a cool demeanor even though my knees were shaking. He was satisfed with my answers and left me there.

By the time I made it to my car they were gone and I still had no signal as the trail is pretty secluded. Once I finally got signal I saw the cops in the road. Turns out their victim had climbed to the road and gotten the police. He had been hacked up pretty badly and had a severed arm which he managed to carry with him. He survived thank god and the guy got sent to jail.

Closest I ever came to getting murdered and it took years before I went hiking again.
