There are Afghan/Iraq translators that have been waiting years for their visas to get out before they and their families are murdered. So the fact that you didn't get a status immediately does not correlate into the US government being good or bad.

The fact that you threw away any evidence that proves you are you, and are unhappy that you did not get five star treatment at the drop of a hat shows a lack of awareness of what the process actually is.

In the US, they will vet all your stories, contacts, etc. to see if there is a credible threat to you or your loved ones. Thats how the process works.
