I saw a doctor for the first time in about ten years. Pretty quickly they asked of my mental health, and I laid it all out.
Within an hour of my appointment ending, a social worker contacted me and offered to help connect me to other resources. It was… a mixed experience. She had good intentions, but felt insincere. She quite literally told me to not be sad, and… I dunno. Kind of felt like this whole exercise was going to be a waste of time, that any resource she points me to is also going to net experts offering insight that is just as hollow as hers.
I’m glad that I opened up, but haven’t gone a step further to book an appointment with a therapist. Next steps.
