The Rekkles defense

It's a nice read, but I do disagree with a few things listed there, that are actually highly opinionated but stated as fact.

One such example is the, "For several reasons, it’s easier for an individual player to stand out on a team that’s performing poorly, especially when that player is a carry. Seeing the contributions of players on teams where the gold is snowballed heavily becomes more difficult, as the top teams also tend to function more as a unit. One player can take a step back to allow another to get a kill or create a play with peel that makes his carry look better than him. Another player may do a ridiculous amount of damage, belying the fact that his teammate baited, performed a clutch combo, used his flash judiciously, and avoided death to create an opening. Great teams in League of Legends are beautiful to watch simply because you can’t tell."

I don't agree with this. If anything in my opinion it is actually easier to identify the good players on good teams because it is through them that the team gets so far ahead and looks so good. When people think of who are the best players in the world, the list usually goes towards teams that are accomplished not the bottom of the league. It is much more rare that you see someone in a bad team be regarded as "the best" than the other way around.

I think Rekkles in most people's eyes is a good adc, but not the best adc. He does have great moments, but that is because he is a decent adc, and when Fnatic was first, was often regarded by fans as the best adc even when Forg1ven was often so heavily outshining him statwise simply because of Fnatic's accomplishments. So to argue that the opposite is what happens I think is disingenuous. When people for instance vote for an MVP of the league it is rare to see someone picked who didn't play in the top 2 or 3 teams. Just look at the current MVP picks overall and that becomes apparent. Similarly for most fans, performance is heavily judged on how well a team does. I mean it can be so ridiculously weighted towards team performance that people make inferences and assumptions about a player based on the team performance including how they may behave behind the scenes with teammates that often little is actually known about.
