Relevant and relatable

Also 1986 here. I fully consider myself a Millenial. I grew up with consoles, computers, internet (dial up, became faster in my teens). Majority of kids in my school had non-smart Nokia style phones by their mid-teens. IRC chatrooms, AOL, MSN, ICQ were all the rage. MySpace, Discmans, Ipods, Birth of Wikipedia... All definitely part of the technology and knowledge at your fingertip boom.

I think perhaps that some people still grew up without those things in the mid to late 80's. I still remember rotary phones, record players, and no mobile phones etc. not being uncommon in peoples houses when I was really young. But if the parents didn't keep up with technology, they themselves didn't bother with it, or maybe couldn't afford it I can see how it would be more of a Gen X experience. I think that's why some people don't relate to that Millenial experience because they growing up as a Gen X'er.

I consider anyone who doesn't know what life was like without fast internet and smart phones as being Gen Z. Who had these things as a norm around them since they were really young.
