Religion Mega Thread

One of the most frustrating things I find when people speak about Islam is when they say "That isn't true Islam"... this is said often when talking about people who say things they don't agree with or even terrorist groups. It assumes there is one true Islam - out of all the sects and the interpretations of the Hadiths that those sects usually follow, what one is true? How do you know your one is right? It just kind of seems like a scapegoat to be honest.

I especially see this with religious people who grew up in the west with western opinions/morals.

They seem to mold the religion to fit their morals so they don't have an internal war and eventual emotional collapse because of the clash between the morals of their community, their religious teachings and their personal opinions.
