Was JUST in this position a few months ago. I am a born and raised Victorian moving back home to BC from Ontario with two cats - we are no longer moving to the island. It was so difficult even getting a response that we (3 adults) bought an RV, planning to find a spot anywhere from Nanaimo to Victoria just to set some roots, and hopefully find a rental. Due to the age of it, we were ineligible for 90% of the parks, and nobody had a private pad to rent. There was even a park in Chemainus that told us they had a 2-3 YEAR long waitlist. We just sold the RV about a week ago, and found a sweet little cabin in the Kootenays through extended family. Wish you the best of luck on your search, but this is unfortunately the reality for a lot of people - no matter the budget.
