Rep. Justin Amash Announces Campaign for President

Same. Honestly I feel like this was setup from the very beginning. Biden is barely left of center (if that) and now they're throwing in another dude whose sole purpose is to capture the conservatives that would vote for Biden just to oust Trump.

Does anyone else think it's weird that the Libertarian is talking about regulating what people can do with their money?

While we're at it, does anyone else think that the Libertarian belief in the "invisible hand of the market" should actually include the consumer response of coming together and enacting protective legislation? If so, what's the difference between that and neoliberalism? If the people get together and enact a mimimum wage then the market clearly doesn't support businesses paying less than that and the business owner should adapt to the market.

Then it becomes an argument of "Is GDP more important than individual's rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness?" Was there a reason good ol' Tommy Jeff didn't keep Locke's "Life, liberty, estate" in its original form or did the Fathers just not know what they were doing?

If they knew what they were doing, how come the people that look up to them are usually more concerned with preserving their own estates than making this country one where people have access to a stable foundation from which they can pursue their own happiness? Wasn't that supposed to be America?

This is when someone pops up and says "But those people preserving their estates deserve to pursue their own happiness too" as if I'd disagree with them on it. Here's the problem: most people do not know how to pursue happiness without taking it from somebody else, be it directly or indirectly. And when you're rich you need to spend more money, more resources that could be going to other people to buy the same amount of happiness because that's just what you're used to.

So leftism, in my eyes, should mostly focus on waking up the rich. Helping them realize that their happiness doesn't need to revolve around their ability to buy things and experiences, or the amount of fame and recognition that they can accumulate over time, but their ability to create happiness within themselves without the use of those things. Because hopefully once they've been able to fill whatever they've been pouring money into they'll realize that a greater happiness comes from bettering the world they inhabit.

But it's like telling a crackhead that has you at gunpoint to just love himself. As of now, I have no idea how to go about resolving the situation. So like most things, this is pretty much all hot air.
