Indians were oppressed by these sultanates and mughals. If it wasn't for Marathas, Rajputs and other brave leaders and empires we would be in shambles. The partition is what made us progress so fast after the independence. Look at Pakistan, they haven't achieved anything just tarnished their name. Any reasonable person would choose security over existing together just for the sake of being together.
