"Repossessing" a rifle/weapon...

Hey guys and gals, serious question.

I have a buddy that was DYING to get his hands on an all matching MINT 1943 Izhvesk Mosin Nagant PU sniper i own(ed). The gun is legally registered in my name to this day; i physically retained the matching bolt, scope, mount, and floorplate, basically its not worth crap without all the matching parts (and cant be fired without the correctly headspaced bolt).

I let him put 50% down and take physical posession of it, with the agreement that he would pay transfer fee at an FFL once he had paid it off.

We made a deal at a certain price, and as of the 15th of November its past due, so now 30+ days in arrears.

Since 1st November he has been avoiding my questions about payment or phone calls. I just want the rifle back and will refund the downpayment to avoid any BS.

Should i get the police involved? On top of wasting my time, its pissing me off and i have another potential buyer, who has the cash to buy it outright.
