REPOST: Washington state ruled that ar15's are "assault rifles" and need mandatory training to purchase. Good thing I can still buy and build pistols

I was speaking as a Californian.

assault rifles in Canada are prohibited

They're prohibited here in California too.

you couldn't get a PAL as a minor.

I'm pretty sure now you have to be at least 21 to buy any gun in California.

you'd have to pay a fee to buy a gun.

We pay many fees in order to buy a gun.

there'd be a registry.

All firearm purchase records are kept by the dealers and registry is probably just around the corner for us.

the only things that are on par with what we already have in canada are the continuous eligibility, storage, and 5 year renewal on licenses.

Some counties have safe storage laws. We have to renew our safety certificate every five years, which includes paying another fee.

There's also a handgun roster, and other than AOW's all NFA items are banned. "Assault weapons" are banned which is any semi-auto that has "evil features" and isn't featureless or doesn't have a fixed magazine. A LOT of guns are banned by name.

And it's only getting worse.
