I was repotting my new Ginseng Ficus today and found some root issues. Should I return it? How bad is this?

More Info

• Ginseng Ficus, purchased locally 3 1/2 weeks ago • Leaves began yellowing 5 days ago. • Lighting & Location: Has been in a semi-greenhouse getting shaded eastern sun, and it's 2' away from an overhead full spectrum grow light (10 hours daily) . I'm in zone 8b. The temp in this room stays around 64-70 at all times. • Soil: It looks like a mixture of bark and light soil. • Watering: The soil in the nursery pot was slow drying so I think I've lightly watered once, maaaaybe twice. (Used a squirt bottle w/ tap water & watered at the base/soil.) • The nursery pot was stretched out by the trunk/roots when purchased. Very compact. • Tonight I attempted to repot it; got most of the soil mix off of the roots, then dipped the roots in a bowl of tap water to get the rest of the soil off. Then I did a root inspection and realized there's some problems.
