Republicans’ “Internet Freedom Act” would wipe out net neutrality

I was just explaining why everyone is going to interpret your comment the way they do.

And it's a terrible explanation. People seeing that and reading it the way you say they will are the ones engaging in terrible behavior and who have reading comprehension issues. "This statement often means X so anyone who says it means that" is lazy at best and is terrible behavior if they then go on to attack the person saying it.

But if you make a general statement that implies the Democrats in general are just as bad as the Republicans in general,

Which is not what I did. I said that in terms of proposing or saying things that demonstrate an ignorance of how things are or how things work, they are the same.

I have to say that most people are going to think that that's intended to be either a defense or at least a justification for the Republican's behavior.

Then most people are adding their own meaning. Criticism of one does not imply defense of the other. And that's where I think the blind partisanship is coming in. When you are so wrapped up in "my guys are good the other guys are evil" that you can't accept anything bad about your guys at face value and have to see it as a defense of the other guys.

Politicians and elected officials in general, regardless of party, often display a high degree of ignorance of how things work which is displayed in their proposed legislations.

That was the actual meaning in what I said. Yes it was in response to a critcism of one party. One that was not completely valid IMO because it was limited to one side. I wasn't saying "well you guys do it too so it's OK".

Keep in mind I'm not talking about the relative difference or sameness of intent behind policies, or about saying often idiotic things intentionally to mislead people. I'm talking about saying or proposing things where it's clear that the person speaking doesn't have any grasp at all on how what they are talking about works.
