Request to Thingiverse - Your thoughts?

No no you got it wrong it's not about different printers but design process as a whole.

Part of design should be testing what was created. Like if you design something then either a.) print it or b.) get it printed somewhere to test that the design that was made works then show a pic of it. In no way is it Thingiverses issue other than they are hosting untested models that aren't clearly labeled as such.

I'm not saying designers can't play raindeer games if they don't have a printer, there are other options (libraries, paying to get things printed). At minimum I agree with the other reply to have Thingiverse add a flag.

Just you have to agree it sucks to accidentally download a remix or even worse a new design only to find out the person has no idea if it works or not and that isn't clearly mentioned in the description. I can say this from both pov's because my first thing I ever uploaded to Thingi was an untested model which I ended up removing because of this very problem, somebody printed it and it didn't really work. I felt like an asshole. :(
