Rescuing a baby elephant (x-post r/babyelephantgifs)

Not at all, she was right next to him for more than 6 hours until villagers arrived to help. The locals gave her some food to calm her down and she instinctively moved aside and was watching from about 20 feet away. She was making noises in response to the baby elephants frantic cries, so that it will know she's still nearby. Immediately after he got out of the well, he ran towards her, she was next to a tree just out of the camera's view. The mother and baby were to happy to be reunited they were holding each other's trunks as they walked back into the jungle.

The villagers then covered the well to prevent future accidents like this.

It's interesting to note that around 2 months later, a fire broke out around 3am involving 3 houses. The occupants who were sleeping inside were awakened by an elephant's cries and trumpeting. It even smashed itself on the side of one of the houses that were burning, breaking down a part of a wall which allowed the occupants to escape quickly.

Thankfully, nobody was injured in the fire because of the elephant's warnings. They later learned that this was the same elephant mother whose baby they helped rescue.

When all was said and done, I have to admit that I pulled this entirely out of my ass and have no source for this but this is what I believed happened, so there. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Bonus: here's a silly baby elephant taking a bath..
