Researcher Who Stopped WannaCry Ransomware Detained in US After Def Con

When he turned off wanna cry some people thought he did it and had no idea it'd get so out of hand and saw that as his way of getting ahead of things. Tin foil hat stuff obviously fun speculation there's no evidence of that, but when I saw he got arrested immediately I was like "ddaaayyyyum he did do it." But no.

I think feds are mad that he put stuff on blast and might, in their eyes, have just been acting like an add service/product reviewer for malware. Obviously they don't see him as harmless.

And so I read the indictment and it says this

Marcus Hutchins knowingly disseminated by electronic means an advertisement of any electronical, mechanical, or other device knowing and having reasons to know that the design of such a device renders in primarily useful for the purpose of surreptitious interception of electronic combinations...

See it used the word advertising. We'll see if he actually put stuff on other peoples computers or was just a techie that talked too openly about how to use/get/hide malware.

If they are simply saying he shouldn't have explained these things to people on social media than this will be an important case, because people should be afforded the privacy to discuss and be interested in anything that's where bitcoin comes from.

If you put things or look at whats on other peoples computers without their permission you're bad though m'kay.
