Researchers suggest that even a one hour exercise in a week can reduce the risk of depression. Researchers said that this is the first time we have been able to quantify the preventative potential of physical activity in the terms of reducing future levels of depression.

If you have a community health clinic nearby they will take payment on a sliding scale and it's very reasonable. Some have onsite pharmacies that will be far cheaper than any drugstore.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy specifically works by teaching us how not to have the negative thoughts about ourselves. I'm not a big believer in "talk" therapy but CBT has had some impressive results in studies.

Whenever I'm overwhelmed by some situation I always tell myself: "tara1245 you're going to get through this, you always do" and you know it always makes me feel better. I could say to myself "wow this sucks, how could I be so stupid" or "why did this have to happen to me?" but that just makes everything worse.

It can be really hard to break the pattern of negative thinking. One thing I use to stop them is to remember that it doesn't even matter whether they are true or not. Negative thoughts about myself have never helped me in any situation in my entire life ever. I don't try to tell myself the thoughts aren't true. When I have them I just think on a practical level: "you know that isn't going to help anything and if you don't stop right now you're going to make everything worse." Try something like this. It can't hurt and it might help.
