Residential college opinion

11/10 would not reccommend St Margarets. You are a BA in arts so you will literally get no aid and you are in the minority in a sea of health sci's so expect to get shit on if you come here. Although they're changing the warden/master in 2017 so i dont exactly know how valid my opinion is. Mood there was horrible although i hope to high heavens that was facilitated in part by the shitty warden. He literally bullied first years in the first week by bringing up their old NCEA results and if you got an A on anything he'd tell you how you were a failiure. That made some students suicidal. Not to mention they sell the fact that the college is welcoming and warm like a family but that was absolute bullshit. Neighbour had depression and they literally called home to tell their parents to remove their child. Alot of reports at student health from St Margs students with mental illness not getting support there. Oh and the living standard gap between the best rooms and the worst rooms are too far. Its like 165000 for a gamble of a condo standard modern room or a tiny shoebox that is poorly insulated. Not worth it. Most rooms are the latter. There are good people that go there but the overall intense competition and bloated ego assholes that come to light there drown out any good. Good Luck for your selection. God knows you're getting a better first year living than me haha.
